Justified

Justified is the debut studio album by American recording artist Justin Timberlake, released on November 4, 2002, by Jive Records and Zomba Records. During the hiatus of his group ‘N Sync, Timberlake looked to adopt a mature image as an R&B artist. Much of the album was produced by The Neptunes, with additional collaborators including Brian McKnight, Scott Storch, Timbaland and The Underdogs. The album features guest appearances by Janet Jackson and rap duo Clipse.
Five singles were released from the album; “Like I Love You” peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100, while three follow-up singles “Cry Me a River”, Rock Your Body, and Señorita peaked at numbers 3, 5, and 27, respectively. The album’s final single I’m Lovin’ It was used in promotional material for McDonald’s. “Like I Love You”, “Cry Me a River” and “Rock Your Body” peaked at number two in the UK and in the top ten in Australia, Ireland, Netherlands and Belgium (Flanders).
Upon its release, Justified received generally favorable reviews from music critics, who complimented the progression from his material with ‘N Sync, while some criticized the lyrical content. The album debuted at number two on the U.S. Billboard 200, with first-week sales of 439,000 copies. It has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), for shipments of one million copies. As of 2011, it has sold over 7 million copies worldwide.
